Native American and Alaska Native Tribes.
American Indian and Alaska Native Tribes have been disproportionally affected by Covid-19. The pandemic has devastated tribes across the country, where a shortage of hospital beds and care provided by Indian Health Service (IHS) nationwide is already far less than what is needed to support communities: 625 beds, including 6 intensive care unit beds with 10 ventilator, for more than 2.5 million American Indian and Alaska Natives from 574 tribes in 37 states.
These inadequacies and inequities have existed for decades. Native American and Alaska Native communities experience poor access to basic healthcare and a lack of access to essential services, sanitation, and key preventive solutions. This insufficient level of infrastructure has resulted in significantly higher rates of communicable and non-communicable diseases and a lower life expectancy.
We believe in the importance of supporting native communities and are committed to helping provide healthcare and training, internship, apprenticeship, and job programs. We also believe in bringing people together to create thoughtful change. We work with Native American and Alaska Native community leaders and local stakeholder to build strategic partnerships that identify and address challenges, empowering community resilience.
